Greeted this morning by a squawking blue heron outside my door as well as gunshots! Seems the hunting season is in full swing here in MIssissippi. Today was a short day despite going through three locks. The first lock, the Jamie Whitten lock, is one of the highest in the U.S. lifting or lowering boats 84 feet. One of our fellow loopers was kind enough to take a picture and video of us in this lock. We also completed the Montgomery and Rankin Lock, leaving us with 9 remaining locks on the Tombigbee River.

Our trip today.
