At this point we have been home for a few weeks. In that time we have emptied and cleaned the boat, returned it to Essex to list it for sale and packed or put away everything awaiting our next adventure. (More on that when we decide what that will be). The house projects are in full swing. A big thanks to Jim, Sharon, Shari & Mike for getting our vehicle to Essex so we could finish emptying the boat.

The trip overall was a fun experience although there are several things that were not in the brochure. Here are some that come to mind in no special order.

-This was not a vacation! Most every day was spent working on something. Routes, watching the weather, defrosting our tiny fridge, cleaning the boat…

-I learned that in some parts of the country the ”grocery store” is your nearest Dollar Tree.

-It would be good to have a handle on Navionics or some other navigation app before starting out.

-I never thought I would cherish showering barefoot or flushing tp on a regular basis.

-Alligators are more prevalent at dawn and dusk. Watch out they can also come several feet out of the water to get their lunch!

-We met some extraordinary people on this trip some will hopefully be lifelong friends.

-Two miles is not a long walk, but with groceries it can feel like a marathon.

-When using community washing machines, look in the drum first. Some think it’s a great idea to wash their dog beds in the same washer as people clothes.

-Beer, wine & spirits are very expensive in Canada. Stock up before heading here.

-A 32 foot boat was the perfect size for us on this trip.

-If you have any inclination to do a trip like this do it while you’re young. We wish we started a few years ago-darn COVID one last time!

-I have often said that we can live with less. After this trip I know we can.

-Any trip can be fun and exciting as long as you travel with your best friend.

We could not have done this trip without the support and help from family and friends, old and new, and are grateful for the rides, meals, eyes on our home, providing us with time on land, and mail wrangling! You all know who you are and we would like to simply say THANK YOU!

Until the next adventure, be well.
