Green Turtle Bay resort was an oasis on the rivers! Situated in Grand Rivers, KY it had all of the basic amenities-water, electricity, showers and laundry in addition to they a van for use to travel the area-very much a necessity as the nearest stores are ~ 15 miles away- an indoor heated indoor pool, sauna, and work out area as well as a day spa. Yes, I took advantage of the spa almost every day we were here.
During our stay here we of course went shopping for groceries and supplies for the boat. On our second day we took a ride to "The land between the lakes" and went on a short hike through the woods with our friends from "Journey" and "Lyra". Day three the two couples we were traveling with left GTB to head further on down the river. We will miss their company, and will likely meet up with them in Pensacola, ~ a month from now.
We decided to remain here to complete some boat chores-oil change, deep cleaning in addition to having a mechanic check out a small transmission leak. All is well as the oil change went smoothly-although it took the better part of a day- and the transmission leak was minor requiring a new gasket. We are also waiting for some of our friends that left Hammond Marina a week or so after us to catch up so we will have some "buddy boats" while we travel the final rivers to the gulf coast, the Tennessee, Ten-Tom, & Tombigbee waterways. Florida here we come! Hoping for warmer weather and shorts and t-shirts.
Day 5 here we met up with Starlett and Scott from “No Worries”. For a few days we vacillated between continuing down the river system or heading to Nashville with Starlett & Scott for a side trip. After changing our minds several times we decided to go to Nashville and explore the city.
our trip day 132.
