Today was a long day ~8 hours. We debated going so far off the ICW simply to visit a crab company but decided it may be a place we return to as it is only a few miles off I-95. We left Jekyll Island early in the am in extremely shallow waters. It took about an hour to see more than 4.5 feet under the boat! Pretty stressful as we draw 4 feet.

The remainder of the day on the water was uneventful and we arrived at the Sudbury Crab Company ~3p.m. As we had dinner reservations at the restaurant which was right at the end of the dock there was no rush to get anywhere. The docks themselves were pretty rustic, although functional and nothing that we hadn’t seen coming down the inland rivers.

If we had any doubts about making the side trip here they vanished when we went to dinner. As you may know eating out is not one of our favorite pastimes, as I enjoy cooking and feeding others. We were so happy we made the decision to stop here. The food was fantastic and our waitress B.J. entertained us throughout our meal. At the suggestion of B.J. we had a “low country boil” which is similar to our New England clam boil. When she dropped the food out on the table and handed us some mallets we were convinced that this would be a fun experience. At the end of the meal B.J. presented us with two of our own mallets to try at home with a New England clam boil. So, if you are ever in the area we strongly suggest that you stop here. You will not be disappointed.

Our trip today.
