Late start to the day today as we have a short ride to Oriental, NC and the Oriental Marina and Inn. We only had one day scheduled here, and with the temps in the 80’s, and the marina having a pool, it would have been nice to stay an extra day. There was not much here in a town of 898 residents (2024 stats). Shrimping, fishing and crabbing seem to be important to the town dubbed the “sailing capital of North Carolina”. Fun fact this town had the first motorized school bus in North Carolina In 1917! Overall a quiet waterfront town that provided the rest and relaxation we are looking for on this trip.

Here we joined our friends from Journey and Loose Moose again. Tomorrow we will all be going our own separate ways sure to meet up again maybe in the Dismal Swamp or where the ICW ends in Norfolk. Wishing them calm waters and following seas.

CaOur trip today.
