This week in Annapolis is graduation for the Naval AcaDemy. We arrived here on the practice day for the Blue Angels. Although we tried to get here early we were delayed by fog this morning and had no other choice but to arrive ~ one hour before the show started. Upon entering the channel we found hundreds of boats anchored up waiting for the show to start. It seems here in Maryland it is ok to anchor in the channel!😵💫 This was the first time, with the exception of fog, that I heard the horn blowing on Boat Time! Yes a bit stressful, but we made it safety our slip before the show began.
The “practice” show was amazing! For a little over an hour 6 Blue Angels, which felt like 20+, buzzed around our heads in and out of formation. (Excuse the unedited video not enough time to play with these.) Spent the remainder of the afternoon organizing the boat, completing some chores, and making dinner. Tomorrow we will head out into the bay on our dinghy with all of the other crazies to see the show.
Watching the show from out on the dinghy was pretty awesome! It is an incredible feeling to have them fly directly over your head. We were in awe as we watched these precision pilots fly so closely that it seemed their wing tips were touching. Not to mention flying upside down half of the time.
The following day we ventured into downtown and visited the Naval Academy Campus, stopped by their museum, and had a leisurely walk through town. Although we have been to Annapolis before, we had never visited the Academy. It was quite an impressive campus that had a very open feel about it, very much unlike West Point in upstate New York.
We enjoyed our time here in Annapolis and enjoyed the fact that this will be our last extended stop on this trip. Again we are ready to go home! For those of you wondering we also had some good news from Thailand. Gal is doing well and we were able to “see” and speak with her the first time since her accident.
Our trip on day 335.
