Today was a picture perfect day on the water. Thank goodness as going through NYC and the East River can be very trying. We had our heads on a swivel watching for the numerous ferries, pleasure boats and tugs on the water. Unlike the beginning of our trip when we approached Manhattan we were able to see the skyline, including Lady Liberty, from miles away-pretty impressive! Several boats made the trip to NYC today including the crew from Blue Tortuga who were gracious enough to wait for our slow tug to cross in front of the Statue to take our pictures.
As a goof I texted my niece Caroline and asked if she was going to wave as we went by today. As many of you know I am directionally challenged and had no idea where she lives in NYC in relation to where we would be coming through the city. As luck would have it we passed Roosevelt Island on the side near where she lives. She was happy to oblige and as she waved frantically from shore she took a few pictures of us passing by.
We arrived late afternoon at the mooring field in Port Washington. While there we hailed a passing dinghy-a couple from Scotland who have sailed around the world and have lived on their sailboat for 12+ years! They were happy to take a picture of us on our final looping day aboard Boat Time. Still amazed at the people we meet on this trip!
Our trip on day 348. Check it out. Yes, all those green markers are boats sharing the river with us! Busy day on the water.
