Several of us decided to take a side trip for a few days to Albemarle Sound as several of the marinas here are offering 2-3 nights stay for free! Seems like a great way to market the area. We thoroughly enjoyed this small historic town of ~4,500. During our first day we took a trolley ride to several of the historic sites which included many of the homes in the downtown area. This town served as the state capitol back in 1722 so you can just imagine the architecture in this old southern town.

Before taking our nap to prepare for the midnight service and headed out on our scooters to explore the town further and to find the church we will be heading to tonight. At 11p.m. we headed out on foot to St. George’s Church and were warmly greeted by this parish. Following the service, which ended at 3 a.m., tired from our trip today we decided to skip the community dinner and head back to the boat.

On our second day here we met up again with some friends that were staying at a different marina nearby. Because of the weather we decided we would remain here for a few more days and wait out the wind and rain coming our way.

Our trip on day 318.
