Yorktown is a town that has something for everyone. We stayed at the marina on the waterfront which was walking distance to museums, restaurants, Yorktown Beach, and a 2 mile + long boardwalk. The town also had a free trolley that traveled the town stopping at several historical sites-Yorktown Battlefield, the American Revolution Museum, and the victory monument to name a few. Our favorite museum here was the Watermen’s Museum. Here we learned all about the “watermen” that have made their living for centuries fishing and harvesting shellfish in the bay. There was also an extensive collection of model boats of all types, old and new. Small museum, interesting find.
Although we planned on staying here a few more days the docks were a rockin‘ on the second night so we decided to move onto Deltaville, the next stop along our way up the Chesapeake Bay.
Our trip on day 327.
